Mrs. Elizabeth’s Deaf Culture Campaign

We’re pleased to invite Mrs. Elizabeth to share her insights on Deaf culture at our December Deaf camp! The goal is to celebrate and promote understanding of Deaf culture, not to imply that Deaf individuals are limited in any way.

Mrs. Elizabeth has witnessed firsthand the capabilities of the Executives and Deaf church leaders of DLFCOM’s camp at KIBI, where they’ve successfully led activities without relying on hearing people. This experience has shown that with the right support, Deaf individuals can thrive and lead effectively.

Core Message: “Deaf Can” By detailing how Deaf leaders at KIBI planned, organized, led worship, facilitated workshops, solved problems, and fostered community—entirely in their own language and cultural context you can powerfully communicate that the barrier is not ability, but often societal attitude and lack of access.

· Deaf people are not a “project” for hearing people to fix, but a linguistic and cultural community with inherent strengths.
· True inclusion means recognizing and empowering Deaf autonomy and leadership.
· With appropriate access (primarily through sign language), Deaf individuals can achieve excellence in all spheres of life.
